About Julius Jones
Julius Jones is the starting running back for the Dallas Cowboys. At 5'10 and 211 lbs, Julius possesses excellent physical ability combined with good vision and a low center of gravity that enables him to bounce off tackles and make extra yardage. He is viewed as more quick than breakneck fast, has superb stop-and-go ability, and the necessary footwork to get to the corner and up the field.
With his ability, Jones has captured the eye of the nation and pumped hope into the hearts of Dallas fans everywhere. After trading their first round pick in the 2004 NFL Draft to Buffalo, the Cowboys chose Jones in the second round with the 43rd selection overall. It marked the highest Dallas draft choice to be spent on a running back since the club selected Emmitt Smith with the 17th overall pick in the 1990 NFL Draft, out of Notre Dame.
Jones brings excellent vision and balance to the Dallas ground game while also possessing the toughness and cutback ability to be effective between the tackles and the speed and acceleration to get around the outside. In 37 career games, with 35 career starts, he has rushed for 2,896 yards (78.3 yards-per-game), including 2,864 in the 35 starts (81.8 yards-per game). In those 35 career starts he has rushed for over 70 yards 23 times. His 2,896 yards through three seasons put him in eighth place on the club's all-time rushing list.
