ABOUT ADAM VINATIERI
Adam Vinatieri is a placekicker currently playing for the Indianapolis Colts. He is best known for his tenure with the New England Patriots from 1996 to 2005, during which he played in four Super Bowls, winning three. Vinatieri also won a championship following the 2006 NFL season with Indianapolis. Vinatieri is the first kicker ever to play in five Super Bowls and win four Super Bowl rings.
» In 1996 he was signed by the Patriots as an undrafted free agent to be a place kicker. He played in New England for the first 10 years of his NFL career, during which he played in four Super Bowls, winning three. His first Super Bowl appearance was in his rookie season of 1996, when he played with the Patriots in their 35-21 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XXXI. One of his kickoffs in the Super Bowl was returned by Desmond Howard a Super Bowl record 99 yards for a touchdown, winning the game for Green Bay.
» In the 2001 playoffs, during a blizzard against the Oakland Raiders in the final game at Foxboro Stadium, Vinatieri kicked a 45-yard field goal (that just barely made it over the crossbar) to tie the game 13-13 and send it into overtime. The Patriots then won the game on another field goal of 23 yards by Vinatieri. That 45-yard kick into the wind during a driving snowstorm is regarded as one of the greatest clutch plays (and the greatest kick) in NFL history.
ABOUT BOB SANDERS
Demond L. "Bob" Sanders (born February 24, 1981 in Erie, Pennsylvania) is a starting safety for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League. Despite his diminutive size, he is known for his speed and hard-hitting. He played college football at the University of Iowa.
» He made 34 tackles and started six games as a rookie in 2004.
» Sanders started the first 13 games of 2005 and earned a reputation as one of the NFL's top hitters at the position. He made 92 tackles on the year and was chosen to play in the 2006 Pro Bowl at Free Safety position for the AFC Team. He is the first Defensive Back to make the Pro Bowl for the Colts since moving to Indianapolis.
» In the 2006 regular season, Sanders played only four games in the regular season due to a knee injury he suffered early. In those four games he racked up 28 tackles. He soon was dubbed "The Eraser" due to his ability to erase the mistakes of his teammates in run support and in pass defense - In doing so, preventing many of the big plays that the opposing teams might have otherwise made happen.
» For the 2007 NFL season Bob was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 2. This was in part due to 11 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks recorded against division rival Tennessee Titans at Tennessee. He was largely responsible for shutting down Vince Young at the end of the game in the 4th quarter clinching the victory for the Indianapolis Colts 22-20.
